November is Mouth Cancer Action Month!

Do you know the signs and symptoms?

Mouth Cancer Action Month runs throughout November and this year it focuses on the campaign phrase ‘If in doubt, get checked out’

Mouth cancer can strike in a number of places, including the lips, tongue, gums and cheek. Given that early detection is so crucial for survival it’s essential that people know the signs and symptoms so they can be aware and get checked if they have any concerns.

The signs and symptoms not to ignore include:

  • Ulcers which do not heal in three weeks
  • Red and white patches in the mouth
  • Unusual lumps or swellings in the mouth or head and neck area

If you have any concerns whatsoever about your mouth we urge you to make an appointment with a dentist or GP so they can put your mind at rest or take action if they believe it is needed.
